The Application Process

One permit is needed for each contractor or subcontractor who will be performing a hot work task. For instance, if welding is going to be conducted outdoors or in a partially constructed building, you will need to specify how many welders will be performing the task and acquire a permit for each work area.
Upon receiving the permits, post them in a conspicuous area. A permit can be posted on a door that leads to the area where hot work is going to be performed or can be secured to an office modular trailer that will temporarily be set up on a worksite.
Gather all of your workers together and let them know about the permit's stipulations. Read over the material that is printed on the permit and make sure that each person knows what types of safety precautions need to be taken. This includes certifying that each worker will be wearing the proper gear and using the correct equipment while performing their job duties.
